Pre poll voting has been popular with rate payers this week with many already casting their vote ahead of tomorrow’s Local Government Elections.
To 10pm yesterday 4553 people had voted in Inverell Shire, Glen Innes Severn Shire had 3086 votes cast while in Gwydir Shire 756 people had pre-polled.
Of the 819 postal vote applications 360 had been returned for Inverell, 200 of the 473 for Glen Innes Severn while 220 have been returned in Gwydir Shire from the 566 applications.
Acting NSW Electoral Commissioner Dr Matthew Phillips says voting is compulsory at council elections in NSW, so anyone unable to vote on election day, should plan their vote now.
Pre-Poll voting closes at 6pm today.
