Hopes High For Highlanders

The finals series of the Central North Rugby Competition begins this week with the Inverell Highlanders off to Tamworth on Sunday to tackle arch nemesis Pirates in a knockout semi-final,

The Highlanders go into the game confident of a good showing but will need to bring their A Game on Sunday as their record at Chillingworth Oval in Tamworth has been poor.

Highlanders president Justin Oakenfull says it will take a massive effort to bring down the Pirates but believes they can cause a major upset.

Minor Premiers Moree Bulls host the Narrabri Blue Boars at Weebollabolla Oval in the major semi-final with the winner to have the hosting right s for the Central North Rugby Grand final in a fortnights time.

Teams to play this Saturday 17/8 in the Major Semi Final (at Moree’s Weebollabolla Oval)

1st Grade:          Moree Bulls v Narrabri Blue Boars

Reserve Grade: Moree Bulls  v Quirindi Lions

Womens 10s:     Narrabri Blue Boars v Gunnedah Red Devils

The Minor Semi-Final will be played on Sunday 18th August at Tamworth Pirates’ Chillingworth Oval

1st Grade :         Tamworth Pirates v Inverell Highlanders

Reserve Grade: Tamworth Pirates v Narrabri Blue Boars

Womens 10s:      Tamworth Pirates v Barraba Rams
