The Inverell Hawks finals chances have been dealt a blow after going down to Warialda Wombats 43-22 at Varley Oval yesterday in Group 19 weekend action
Hawks President Ethan Anderson says it was a tough game adding they couldn’t break the Wombats defence.
He says it was a close game before the Wombats pulled away in the last 15 minutes to remain one of the teams to beat this year.
Tingha’s semi-final hopes are also disappearing after their 46-16 loss to the Moree Boomerangs while the Walcha Roos caused the upset of the year, beating reigning premiers Narwan Eels 30-28.
Winners in Ladies League Tag were Tingha, Narwan, Glen Innes and Warialda while there was only one game played in the U18s competition with Inverell scoring a 22-10 win over Warialda.
