The blue plaque honouring the life and achievements of Country Women’s Association co-founder Grace Munro has been unveiled in Bingara.
The NSW government initiative, Blue Plaques NSW celebrates well-known characters by highlighting the lesser-known stories of people and events that shaped a particular communities, town, or field of work or study.
Mrs Munro served as the first President of the NSW Country Women’s Association and created ongoing foundational support for isolated regional women and children and also campaigned tirelessly for much-needed resources and funding for hospitals and women’s restrooms across the state.
Members of the Bingara and Gwydir branches of the CWA were on hand at the Senior Citizens Rest Centre in Bingara to unveil the plaque which was followed by morning tea, their famous scones and a celebration cake.
