A 16-year-old Holy Trinity student is competing in the Girls 16 and Under Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League National Championships this week in Port Macquarie.
Tilly Thompson had three trials to make the Combined Catholic Colleges squad with the 1st trial being with Armidale Dioceses in Lismore, 2nd Regional trial in South West Rocks and the state trial in Wyong to make the state team.
The Year 10 student plays Prop/Front Row and also has links with local rugby and AFL, playing for the Highlanders Juniors and making her Inverell Saints Senior women’s debut earlier in the year.
Tilly’s mum Lee says this is a massive achievement for a young country kids with limited league tackle football in the New England
