Inverell High School student Ellie McSpedden represented headed to Wyong last week to take her place in the NSW CHS Girls Hockey Championships

Ellie joined girls from Tamworth and Armidale to represent Northwest, with the team coming 2nd in the Pool A Division winning against Sydney South West, Sydney East and Riverina convincingly before being beaten by North Coast.

On the third day they were defeated by South Coast in the semifinal in a hard-fought game, which saw three girls retire with injuries.

Overall, Northwest came 3rd in the 10-team competition consisting of four teams from Sydney, one Newcastle team and five NSW Country teams.
