Inverell Rotary Club celebrated its 90th Birthday last week at the RSM Club.
50 people attended the celebration including members of the Inverell East and Warialda Rotary Club’s with a special presentation from past president Peter Lloyd who spoke about the many projects coordinated by Inverell Rotary Club over its 90-year history.
Current Rotarian Brian Baldwin says for the first 84 years, the Club had a different male President each year and over the past 10 years, five women have assumed the Presidents role including Sue Moran, Patsy Armstrong Josephine Kelly, Kate George and Helen Tickle.
The Club has also provided five District governors during this time.
One of their biggest schemes going back to the early 90s was the Club’s embracement of the Rotary world scheme to rid the world of polio with only four counties now in the world with known polio cases and two of those countries not entering the rotary scheme.
