Building on the success of last year’s historic revival that drew over 800 people to the refurbished track, the volunteer run Bundarra Race Weekend is back on Saturday, 3 October 2026, with an expanded two-day program dedicated to securing local medical services.
Driven by the local community and led by Bundarra Racing Club Chair Matthew Monk, the annual fixture has grown into a weekend-long social and charitable event. Proceeds from the newly launched Sunday Golf Day will go directly toward establishing a dedicated pharmacy, nursing service, and resident General Practitioner at Bundarra’s Grace Munroe Facility.
“Last year proved what this town can achieve when we pull together,” said Matthew Monk, Chair of the Bundarra Racing Club. “We brought the Bundarra Cup back home through sheer community pride and hard work. This year, we’re taking that momentum to tackle our town’s biggest need… bringing essential medical care, a doctor, and a pharmacy directly to the Grace Munroe Facility so our residents don’t have to travel long distances for basic healthcare.”
The 2026 event features a full schedule across two venues:
- Saturday, 3 October (Bundarra Racecourse): A classic country race meeting featuring six live races, local food stalls, bar facilities, fashions on the field, and family entertainment.
- Sunday, 4 October (Bundarra Golf Club): The inaugural Bundarra Charity Golf Day, offering local social golfers and visitors a chance to compete while supporting the health fundraising drive.
The Bundarra Cup traces its history back to 1906. After a hiatus and a brief relocation to Armidale, local volunteers reclaimed and renovated the historic track in 2025. The entire operation, from track maintenance to event coordination, remains 100% volunteer led.
Visitors traveling to the district are encouraged to utilize the updated local caravan and RV park facilities within walking distance of town amenities.
