A man facing several stalking charges from incidents in Uralla earlier this year has learned his fate after appearing in Armidale Local Court this week
The Northern Daily Leader reports Stephen Ronald Hollis was sentenced to an aggregate prison term of 18 months with a non-parole period of nine months.
Hollis is alleged to have been behind the wheel of a silver Holden Commodore that was reported multiple times in alleged stalking incidents around Uralla in February, including driving past a 19-year-old woman 28 times and asking a 5-year-old girl to get in his car.
The 49-year-old failed in his bid to have his charges diverted away from the criminal justice system under mental health legislation with police prosecutor Sergeant Bec Allsop saying this is as serious as it can get before it turns tragic.
Judge Tania Johnson sentenced Hollis to an aggregate prison term of 18 months with a non-parole period of nine months but with time already served Hollis will be eligible for release to parole on November 10.
He was also ordered to take medication and continue engaging in psychiatric treatment.
