NSW Rural Fire Service Northern Tablelands District Team have advised fire permits are currently suspended through to this Monday in Inverell & Tenterfield Local Government Area’s.
This measure is being taken to reduce the risk of fires starting and spreading under the heightened fire conditions.
Landholders currently hold a fire permit are unable to light new fires or stoke up existing fires during the suspension period.
The RFS advise any planned burns or activities requiring a permit are postponed and failure in complying with this suspension WILL result in heavy fines.
