Council Issues Warning about Battery Disposal

by | May 15, 2026 | Community, Local Government

Inverell Shire Council has warned of the dangers of fires igniting when batteries are placed in kerbside bins stressing batteries cannot go in kerbside bins.

Council says when batteries are improperly disposed of, they pose a significant safety and environmental risk and may lead to fires in trucks, waste facilities and houses.

Disposal of large batteries like laptop, TV batteries, and lead acid batteries can be dropped off at the community recycling centre at Inverell Landfill on the Burtenshaw Rd while household batteries can be dropped off at the community recycling centre, Council’s Administration Building in Otho St and Inverell Shire Public Library.
