A bush fire that was burning in the vicinity of Burial Ground Gully, on the western edge of the Uralla township has now been contained after it threatened properties in the area yesterday afternoon.
The John St Fire alert level was raised to Watch & Act with nearby residents in the Leece Rd, Quartz Gully Rd and Wilkens St areas, advised they were at risk.
Fire crews with the support from local landholders and choppers, were able to bring the fire under control without loss of life or property damage.
Firefighters continued work to mop up and extinguish hot spots across the fireground last night.
