Three people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in the state’s northwest yesterday afternoon.
About 2.30pm, emergency services were called to Yetman Road, Oakwood, approximately 16km north of Inverell, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
Officers attached to New England Police District were told a station wagon – towing a box trailer – and a quad bike collided.
The front passenger of hatchback – a 39-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head injuries before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
The driver – a 68-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for back injuries before being taken to Armidale Hospital for further treatment.
The rider – a 24-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for leg injuries before being airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital in a stable condition.
Both the driver and the rider will be subjected to a mandatory testing following their treatment.
A crime scene has been established, and officers attached to Crash Investigation Unit were called to commence an investigation into the incident.
