Sapphire Social Committee have made a sizeable donation of $10,000 to local charity Operation Operating Room following the success of their inaugural ball held last month.
The sold-out event, aimed at bringing the community together to socialise and network with a long-term goal of addressing some of the current employment difficulties in the town.
Mark Hughes, founder of the Mark Hughes Foundation and Newcastle Knights premiership hero, was the guest speaker, with an auction also conducted on the evening to raise funds.
Claudia Hadenfeldt from the Saphire Social Committee says the donation to Operation Operating room will hopefully retain and recruit staff to the hospital.
Ms Hadenfeldt says they’re planning to host the Ball annually alongside their ‘social sips’ held the first Friday of every month at local pubs/clubs in town as well as and other social events adding the committee will also hosting a Christmas party, Jingle and Mingle at the RSM Club on Sunday 14th December, 1pm with entertainment from The Abbeys.
