The countdown is on as Inverell prepares to welcome teams from across the country for the Joey’s Mini World Cup which will be held 2–5 October at the Inverell Sports Complex.
Now in its biggest year yet, the Mini World Cup has reached a major milestone with 50 teams registered, cementing its reputation as a premier event on the youth football calendar.
Young footballers from far and wide – including teams travelling from Adelaide and Bundaberg, QLD will converge on Inverell to compete at the highest level, showcase their talent, and chase the opportunity to be selected for an elite football tour.
A key feature of the tournament is the chance for players and coaches to be named on the 44-strong football development tour of Germany, which includes stints at German football academies and clubs, gaining invaluable international experience and exposure.
Selectors and football coaches from Germany and Australia’s A-League will be in attendance, scouting for emerging talent with the potential to take their game to the next level.
Event organisers are thrilled with this year’s response and are eager to welcome players, families, and spectators.
“We’re incredibly proud to see how this tournament has grown. It’s not just about the football – it’s about creating opportunities, building connections, and showcasing what a regional town like Inverell can offer,” said tournament founder Heinrich Haussler.
“Based on the feedback received last year, we have made some improvements to the tournament, presentation night and also food and drink options on site”.
Haussler says the tournament promises high-level competition, an electric atmosphere, and a true celebration of youth sport.
