Works this week at Bingara’s Telstra mobile base tower will extend for another day and will now be completed tomorrow.
Telstra has advised Gwydir Shire Council that while they do their best to deliver planned works as schedule, there may be occasions where timings or impacts change due to factors out of their control.
With outages of up to 10 hours at a time while the upgrades are carried out, Shire Mayor Tiffany Galvin explained prior to the works commencing they know these outages are frustrating, particularly given the long-standing mobile coverage issues they’ve experienced across the shire but hopes the upgrade will result in a significant improvement for Bingara and her community.
Telstra advise the works will not impact NBN, satellite services, PSTN landline services or mobile coverage from other providers adding any calls to Triple 000 from a Telstra mobile when the site is off will automatically connect to another mobile network if available for connection to emergency services.
