A 60-year-old woman had to spend a night in the Washpool National Park near Glen Innes on Saturday night after sustaining a serious hand injury following a fall.
NSW Ambulance were alerted to the incident on Saturday night but due to the remote location where the woman was, a rescue was deemed unsafe.
VRA Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance remained with the woman, monitoring her condition, managing pain, and providing shelter and safety until she was able to be winched out on Sunday morning around 9:30
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the area to assist the injured bush walker who was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and the helicopter’s critical care medical team for the hand injury before being airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital.
