About 6.40am on Wednesday 19 February 2025, officers attached to New England Police District were called to Rockvale Road, Armidale, with reports of a Toyota sedan with number plates believed to be stolen.

Police located the Toyota travelling south on Rockvale Road before a pursuit was initiated, continuing through Richardson Avenue and Glen Innes Road, where the vehicle failed to stop at a red light. The pursuit was terminated due to safety reasons.

About 7.40am, the Toyota was seen travelling east on Gostwyck Road, Uralla, where it allegedly drove at speed towards a police vehicle, causing the officer to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

A short time later, the Toyota reportedly drove through a livestock fence on a rural property on Gostwyck Road, Uralla, destroying approximately 100 metres of fencing.

The vehicle attended a service station on Bridge Street, Uralla, where the female passenger filled the car up with petrol and left without paying.

About 8.20am, police located the Toyota driving north on Thunderbolts Way, near Uralla. When it failed to stop as directed, a further pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle entered a rural property on Thunderbolts Way, Yarrowyck, destroying several gates before coming to a stop, with the driver and passenger then fleeing into dense bushland. A search was conducted of the area; however, the occupants were unable to be located.

The Toyota was seized for forensic analysis, along with property found in the vehicle.

Following inquiries, about 3.30pm the same day, a 23-year-old woman was arrested at a rural property on Thunderbolts Way, Yarrowyck, and taken to Armidale Police Station where she was charged with dishonestly obtain property by deception, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

She was granted conditional bail to appear before Glen Innes Local Court on Tuesday 29 April 2025.
