The Inverell Saints seniors’ teams have been denied match play after weekend games against the Tamworth Kangaroos were cancelled due to wet grounds.
The Saints wanted the games to be played to get match fitness before the finals series but were thwarted by the recent rain in the region which forced Tamworth Regional Council to close sporting fields over the weekend.
The Saints Women will be back on the ground this weekend when they meet the Tamworth Swans at No 1 Oval in the Preliminary Final wjile the Men’s tram will have a fortnight to prepare for the Grand Final at Varley Oval on Saturday August 31st.
In Gunnedah, the Swans defeated the Bulldogs by 29 points in the Men’s game while the Poochettes hammered the Swans by 50 points to remain undefeated this season.
Meantime the Inverell Saints U14s team played their last home and away game against the combined Tamworth/Gunnedah team yesterday as a pre -cursor to next weeks grand final and went down 7.17.59 to 4.5.29.
The U14s grand Final will be held at No1 Oval in Tamworth on Sunday
