Good rainfall around the region of around 25-50 mls has been warmly welcomed by local residents and landholders.
Big falls reported to STA FM yesterday occurred south of Inverell with 52mm received on the Bingara Rd at Bundarra, 50mm at Howell/Stanborough area, and 46mm southwest of Gilgai and 42mm at Tingha.
To the north, reports of 27 mm at Bukkulla and 24 at Ashford were received bringing some welcome relief to drought affected areas of the Shire.
Official readings to 9am yesterday saw Inverell receive 34, Glen Innes Airport 41, Pindari Dam 25, Tingha 34, Warialda 16, and Moree Airport only 5mm
The Bureau of Meterorology says a trough of low pressure brought wet weather to eastern parts of the country and is gradually contracting eastwards.
Mostly sunny conditions are expected for Inverell for the rest of the week.
