The Warialda Wombats are this year’s Premiers after defeating the Inverell Hawks in yesterday’s Group 19 Rugby League Grand Final.
The Hawks started strong dealing first blood within the opening minutes of the grudge match, however and despite the Hawk’s efforts to try and maintain the lead without a full side, the Wombats found ground and began to take back the game with foot on the pedal from the 2nd half and maintained the lead right through to full-time, winning the Grand Final in a high scoring affair, 60-32.
Hawks President Ethan Anderson gave praise to the hard-fought game played by the Inverell side as well as congratulated the Wombats on this year’s win.

In Ladies League Tag Grand Final, the Tingha Tigers took the win for a 3rd consecutive year downing the Narwan Eels 20-8, with an elated coach Ivan Lackey paying tribute to the Ladies saying that though this was the toughest season played, they had the goods to deliver in the end.
The Ladies Plate match had the Wombats take the day over the Boomerangs in the narrowest of wins, 26-24.
Meanwhile in the U18s game, the undefeated Glen Innes Magpies triumphed over the Wombats to take home the Grand Final cup, with an impressive 42-22 victory.
