Warialda Bore Back in Business

by | Nov 25, 2025 | Community, Environment, Local Government | 0 comments

Gwydir Shire Council has confirmed that Warialda’s Crane Street bore has returned to service on a trial basis.

The bore was back online yesterday following recent water testing which returned promising results earlier this month.

Since PFAS contamination was detected late last year, Council have been conducting regular testing to ensure the water remains safe.

Council ran a trial using the bore earlier this month, in isolation from the town water supply and a further sample taken to ensure infiltration didn’t occur with changing water levels within the aquifer.

Over the coming weeks Council staff will closely monitor reservoir levels and bore pump usage, while increasing the frequency of routine water quality testing.

At this stage, there is no change to current water restrictions however if the bore is permanently recommissioned, Council will be able to consider easing existing restrictions.
