Essential Energy crews responded to an unplanned power outage in Inverell which occurred last Friday.
Electricity network protection equipment operated automatically switching power off to 2,340 homes and businesses for safety around 11.10am, when reports of fallen powerlines in Mulligan Street was received shortly after the power went out.
Power was restored to most customers, however 58 premises remained without power until repairs were completed shortly after 5pm on Friday.
The public is reminded to stay at least eight metres away from fallen powerlines or damaged electricity equipment and report them immediately by calling 13 20 80 or Triple-0 if the situation is life threatening.
