Thousands of people packed into Deepwater racecourse on Saturday for the annual race meeting, many of them travelling from across Queensland and the North Coast.
The Cup was won by an outsider UNDER THE CAP trained by Steve Hardy and ridden by Reece O’Connell who defied the favourite UNLEASH to run him down.
For the locals A TENT HUT was headed but fought back strongly to win the final race for the Todd Payne stable.
Deepwater Jockey Club President John Newsome was all smiles as he thanked his committee of volunteers for their hard work for what was the best-attended Cup meeting for many years.
