Two Teens Charged Operation Mongoose

by | Sep 9, 2024 | Crime | 0 comments

Two teens have faced court following an alleged break and enter and police pursuit in Moree last week under Operation Regional Mongoose.

Just after 2.40am on Friday, police were called to a motel on Warialda St, Moree, following reports of a break and enter, when officers attached to New England Police District were told a 58 yr old man was asleep in his room before an unknown male wielding a knife allegedly entered the room and took a vehicle key and other belongings, fleeing the scene in a Mercedes sedan which belonged to the victim.

A short time later police sighted the sedan and attempted to stop the vehicle, however when it failed to do so, a pursuit was initiated with road spikes being deployed successfully; two teens aged 16 fleeing the scene by foot before being arrested shortly after.

They were taken to Moree Police Station where they were both charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, armed and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The 2 boys were refused bail and have appeared before a Children’s Court with investigations under Operation Regional Mongoose continuing.
