The Region Set to Celebrate Australia Day

The community is being invited to the Inverell Shire Australia Day Celebrations at Victoria Park this Sunday morning.

Festivities will kick off at 7am and will feature entertainment by the Inverell Singers, Sapphire City Concert Band and Danthonia Youth Choir, flag raising ceremony, addresses from Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight and Australia Day Ambassador, internationally renowned flutists Jane Rutter

The morning will also feature the announcement of Inverell Shire’s Australia Day Citizen of the Year Award with Allison Lane, Garry Newley, Graham Kerridge, Ken Middleton, Lorraine Brown and Terri Smith nominated for the coveted award.

A BBQ Breakfast will be cooked by Macintyre Lions Club during the morning for a gold coin donation.

Gwydir Shire Australia Day celebrations will take place in Bingara and Warialda this Sunday

The Bingara Special Events Committee in conjunction with Gwydir Shire Council invite the community for Breakfast and the Awards ceremony at the Roxy theatre from 8am with the Australia Day Ambassador being Major Alex Rubin from the Australian Army.

Several awards will be presented including the Citizen, Young Citizen, Volunteer or Volunteer Team/Group, Community Event of the Year, Junior and senior Sportsperson and Sports Team of the year awards.

Meantime over in Warialda, their Australia Day event will be held at the showgrounds kicking off with Breakfast from 7:30am followed by the Awards presentation at 9am for Citizen, Junior and Senior Citizen of the year, Event of the year and the Jnr/Snr Environmental Champion
