Two offenders have been arrested in relation to the theft of a motor vehicle from a work depot in Burtenshaw Rd, Inverell during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The stolen vehicle was then involved in a collision with a dwelling on Macintyre Street later that morning.
Police attended a residence in Inverell on Tuesday where a 17-year-old male arrested in relation to the incident and charged with ‘Aggravated commit serious indictable offence, break out, in company steal’, ‘Take & drive conveyance without the consent of owner’, ‘Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous’, and Negligent driving.
He was refused bail by police but later granted by the Parramatta Bail Division Children’s Court with the matter going before Inverell Children’s Court 7th of May.
A second offender presented to the Inverell Police Station on Wednesday in relation to the matter with the 16-year-old male placed under arrest.
This offender’s involvement was diverted under the Young Offenders Act 1997 for the offence of ‘carried in conveyance w/o consent of owner’ to which he will be cautioned at a later date.
