Teen Charged Over Alleged Aggravated Break, Enter and Steal in Inverell

A teenage boy has faced court after an alleged aggravated break, enter and steal in the state’s north on the weekend.

Officers attached to New England Police District were called to a home on John Street, Inverell, about 3.15pm Saturday 27 June 2026, following reports of a break in.

Police arrived and were told several people had allegedly forced entry into the house and stole a safe, cash and multiple household items, before fleeing on foot.

No injuries were reported.

During a search, officers located the empty safe and other items from inside the residence at a nearby property.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 16-year-old boy at an address in Inverell, after a short foot pursuit, about 4pm the same day.

He was taken to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

He was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court on Sunday 28 June 2026, where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear before a children’s court on Thursday 16 July 2026.
