The NSW parliament have reached bipartisan support to raise the age that kids can access social media platforms.
Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan spoke on behalf of the Nationals Party during a public interest debate in the Chamber this week to support raising the age limit from 13 to 16 years old.
Mr Moylan says parliamentarians have been given a trove of information on the mental health impact social media is having on children and the addictive nature of the platforms.
The Local MP says people have told him kids will find another way to access social media but believes something needs to happen as the impacts of social media on kids is quite concerning.
He says it great to have bipartisan agreement in State parliament adding it’s time for action now.
