Avid Stargazers are being invited to watch the night sky this week with a Free Family Stargazing Event being held in Uralla in conjunction with the Winter Solstice.
Uralla’s high altitude, low humidity and dark night skies makes for one of Australia’s ultimate stargazing locations, with giant telescopes, laser guided tours of the stars, hot drinks and internationally acclaimed astronomer Professor Fred Watson on hand to answer questions and help ponder ones existence in the universe.

There will also be a Space and Trivia night held at The Alternate Route, presented by the University of New England and the Northern Tablelands Astronomical Society.
The free event will be held at the Constellation of the South from 6pm this Friday 21st June with a free shuttle bus available operating between the venue and The Alternate Route. More information can be found by heading to the Uralla Shire Council Facebook page.
