Square and Compass have retained top spot on the Inverell Cricket competition points table after their nail biting 8 run victory over Staggy Creek at McCosker 2 on Saturday.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Square and Compass were in early trouble before Jai Tasker with 76 and Ryan Campbell with 46 guided their team to 6/179.
The run chase was exciting with Staggy needing 9 runs off the final 12 deliveries before Liam Spalding claimed the last two crucial wickets to dismiss Staggy for 171.
In the other round 13 game, reigning premiers Campbell and Freebairn Rebels had a convincing 161 run victory over Delungra at Varley Oval.
A century from Blake Ubergang and 97 from Dave Mudaliar set up the Rebels 2/260 and in reply, Delungra were dismissed for 99.
The win moves the Rebels to 2nd place on the point table with two rounds left.
