Renewable energy developer South Energy has received over 750 responses to its community survey regarding the proposed Inverell Battery Project.
It follows community sessions held last month which they say were a valuable opportunity for them to discuss the proposed Inverell BESS with community members, nearby residents, and local groups.
In response to completing the survey, respondents received an email on Monday from South Energy, stating they heard a wide range of views with these insights to play a key role in shaping the project and its associated assessments as they move forward towards submitting the project’s Scoping Report and then commencing the project’s Environmental Impact Statement.
South Energy recognised the strong passion within the community and the depth of feeling expressed during the sessions adding it’s clear there is a deep connection to the region, and a shared determination to ensure the land, landscape and the environment is respected and cared for, and no undue risk is presented to the community.
Some of the community concerns included fire risk, visual impact on neighbouring homes, pollution, property values, noise and the consultation process but also received support and interest from the community, about future employment opportunities.
