Inverell Shire Council and the Sapphire Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund Committee is pleased to announce the successful recipients of Round 1 funding for 2026, supporting six community‑driven projects across the Inverell and Ashford regions.
At its meeting on 16 March 2026, the Committee reviewed 11 applications and, following careful consideration, reached a consensus to award funding to six initiatives that demonstrate strong community value, long‑term benefit and alignment with the Fund’s objectives.
The following organisations will receive a combined total of $64,561.50 in funding:
- Ashford Showground Land Manager
Project: Strengthening Boundaries at Ashford Showground Reserve
Funding Awarded: $18,000
This project will enhance safety and functionality at the Showground through upgraded
boundary infrastructure. - Macintyre High School P&C Association (Canteen Committee)
Project: Sapphire Community of Schools Combined Musical
Funding Awarded: $15,000
The grant will support a collaborative musical production, encouraging creativity and
connection across local schools. - Inverell Jockey Club Inc
Project: Replacement of Refrigerator and Bain Marie
Funding Awarded: $5,000
Funding will assist with essential equipment upgrades to improve catering capacity at
community race events. - Nullamanna Reserve Land Manager
Project: Re‑roofing Amenities Block
Funding Awarded: $5,000
This upgrade will improve the safety, usability, and longevity of the Reserve’s public
amenities. - The Dramamatics (Regional Community Builders Inc)
Project: Unstopability 2026
Funding Awarded: $3,994
The project will deliver inclusive performing arts opportunities, encouraging participation and
confidence among local residents. - Inverell Art Society Inc
Project: Strengthening Creative Spaces for Community Arts and Education
Funding Awarded: $17,567.50
The grant will fund air conditioning, security systems, and a portable smart board to
enhance the Society’s teaching and exhibition spaces.
The Sapphire Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund continues to invest in projects that strengthen local facilities, encourage creativity and enhance community wellbeing.
