The ACCC is warning consumers to beware of scam emails impersonating Bendigo Bank and PayPal.
The scam involves an invoice detailing an amount that needs to be paid, often for cryptocurrency exchange.
The consumer is then invited to call a number included in the email, if they don’t recognise the transaction or have any questions.
The ACCC warns calling the number will link the victim with the scammer.
They advise people to never call phone numbers in texts or emails but instead, use contact details they find through official websites or apps.
