Sapphire City Concert Band Inc will receive assistance from Inverell Shire Council ahead of their 30-year celebrations in August.
Following their April Council meeting, Council has agreed to a request from the band for their annual donation for 2024/2025 to be increased from $2,000 to $5,000 and a discount on the hire fees for the Inverell Town Hall.
The Band is planning a weekend of music to be held in August with invitations extended to the Ballina Shire Concert Band and the New England Conservatorium of Music from Armidale to visit and perform with the band which has been accepted.
The weekend of music will include a combined concert to be held at the Inverell Town Hall on Saturday, 2 August and a second less formal, free event on Sunday morning for the Inverell community.
The band is also planning to enter the 2025 NSW State Band Championships being held in Sydney in late August.
Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight says Council support reflects the bands dedication to the community.
