Saints Upset at Home

by | May 11, 2026 | Sport

The Inverell Saints have gone down by 1 point in a hard-fought match against the Gunnedah Bulldogs at Varley Oval on Saturday in Round 4 results in the AFL Northwest competition.

A late Saints surge which saw Angus Croft boot two goals was not enough for the home team, going down 11.15.81 to 12.8.80

Saints men’s Coach Hayden Chappel singled out Blake Newman for his grit off halfback and through the mid field.

Meantime, the Saints Women scored an empathic win over arch-rival the Poochettes, winning 7.10.52 to 3.4.22 to get back on the winners list.

100 gamer Clare McCosker booted 3 goals in the 30-point win.

In Tamworth, the Swans had two massive wins with the men scoring a 175-point win while their Women’s teams had a 194-point victory over the New England Nomads.
