The Inverell Saints have secured the AFL Northwest minor premiership and a home-ground grand final after thumping the Tamworth Swans by 81 points at Varley Oval on Saturday.
The Saints were dominant from the start with captain Hayden Chappel booting four goals while Shannon Wilson and the Cosgrove twins were dangerous up forward kicking 3 majors each for the afternoon in the 16.16.112 to 4.7.31 victory
Coach Matt Harrison was pleased with the win and securing the minor premiership and a home grand final on Saturday August 31st.
The Saints Women were also too classy for the fledgling Swans outfit to come away with a 40 point win with Sarah Drew and Gabby Mooney playing an integral part in the win while Captain Clare McCosker booted 4 majors and fullback Chloe Taveira, who spent time in the forward line, sinking 3 goals in the 12.12.84 to 6.8.44 win.
In the other Round 11 matches played in Tamworth, The Gunnedah Bulldogs had two big wins over the Kangaroos with the men’s team scoring a 19.18.132 to 10.7.67 win while the Poochettes continued their unbeaten record this season with a 8.15.63 to 0.4.4 win
The Saints U14s were back on the paddock after over a month without a game to beating the New England Nomads 9.11.65 to 0.0.0
