Competition Inverell Saints have recorded two important wins in Tamworth in the AFL Northwest competition on Saturday.
The Saints men rued several misses at goal which kept the Kangaroos in the game for 3 quarters before the reigning premier pulled away in the final term to register 9,21.74 to 4.8.32 win.
Hayden Chappell, Jack Bennet and captain Ryan Lewis again showed poise and skill in what was a lack luster affair with coach Matt Harrison saying his team will need to improve vastly if they’re going to defend their title.
The Saints Women recorded a 70 point win over Kangaroos in the early game with Sarah Drew booting 4 goals while captain Clare McCosker booted 3 in the 13.11.89 to 3.1.19 win.
The Saints remain two games clear on top of the AFL Northwest Women’s ladder and will need to keep winning if the Saints are to host the major semi-finals in September.
