Saints March to Double Premiership Glory

The Inverell Saints have created their own history in the AFL Northwest competition, claiming both the Men’s and Women’s premierships following Saturday’s Grand Finals at Varley Oval.

In glorious conditions, the Men’s team won Bqck to Back flags for the first time in their 20 year history when they accounted for the Tamworth Swans 11.14.80 to 7.4.46 with the League’s 2024 Rising Star Cooper Taveira awarded the Graham Nuttall Award for Best on Ground.

Coach Matt Harrison was thrilled with the effort from his side, capping off a year where the Saints only lost 1 match for the season.

The Saints Women kicked started the day with a premiership win over the reigning premier the Gunnedah Poochettes, taking out their 4th title with a 4.4.28 to 3.4.22 victory.

Scores were tight through the match with Saints midfielders Jess O’Brien and Ali Sims kicking goals in the last term to give the home side a come from behind victory.

Saints star Gabby Mooney was a rock through the afternoon and was voted Best on Ground.
