Saints Hoping to Knock Bark Out of Dogs

by | Jun 19, 2026 | Sport

The Inverell Saints hit the road tomorrow to play the Gunnedah Bulldogs at Wolseley Oval in a top of the table clash in Round 9 action in the AFL Northwest competition.

Saints Men’s Coach Hayden Chappel believes this could be a season defining game against the competition leaders who upset them earlier this season at Varley Oval by 1 point.

Chappel says they’re using that loss to add some spice to the contest to spur them on knowing a win will see them become joint competition leaders.

Meantime Women’s Coach Chris Pay will use last week’s come from behind win against the Tamworth Kangaroos to build confidence and momentum against the Poochettes in a must win game.

The Saints need to win to remain a game clear of the Poochettes on the ladder.

In the other match, the New England Nomads face the Tamworth Swans at Bellevue Oval in Armidale.
