The Inverell Saints are one step closer to securing the AFL Northwest Minor Premiership and a home ground major semi final after they recorded a 30-point win over the Gunnedah Bulldogs at Wolseley Oval.
The Saints came from behind in the last quarter to register a 103 to 73 win with
Saints Men’s coach Hayden Chappel says he wasn’t pleased at ¾ time and demanded a better performance for his players and too their credit, the mid field and forward line clicked in the last term to run away with the victory.
Meantime the Saints Women went down by one point to arch-rival the Poochettes, losing 3.7.25 to 3.6.24.
A behind kicked by the Poochettes on the siren gave the victory to the home team with Saints Women’s coach Chris Pay saying they paid the price for poor decision making in front of goal.
In the other match, the Tamworth Swans had a big 65 win over the New England Nomads to win 19.15.129 to 9.10.64 while the Nomads women forfeited their match against the Swans.
