Roads to Recovery Program for Inverell

by | Jul 26, 2024 | Community, Politics | 0 comments

MORE than $12.30 million has been earmarked for road improvements across the shire under the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program.

The funding, which is an extra $2.5 million provided over the next 3 years, will see rural roads, bridges and causeways be resealed and heavy patching to be carried out.

According to Inverell Shire Council, Kings Plains Rd, Western Feeder Rd and Nullamanna Rd are among priorities for an upgrade, with Shire Mayor Paul Harmon saying the extra funding has been a great boost to maintaining our roads, adding the highest priority for this funding is any heavy patching required under forthcoming bitumen reseal programs, which following this, any works identified in Council’s rural and regional sealed road rehabilitation plans will be addressed.

However, according to Mayor Harmon, though the extra funding is welcome, it is not new funding from State Government coffers.
