Motorists are being warned that upgrade works on the Gwydir Hwy at Delungra will commence with upgrade preparations this Friday with works to begin on Monday.

The upgrade area will be a section of the highway between Coolatai St and west of reedy St with the highway closed during the works at the intersecting streets within the section.

Inverell Shire Council advise due to the nature of the project, residents along Inverell St, will not have access to their driveways while the section affecting their property is being upgraded adding it is recommended that  residents prepare to use rear access where available.

Council estimates that works will take a fortnight to complete, weather permitting with detours in place during the upgrade works.
