Ride for Sick Kids 2024

by | Aug 12, 2024 | Community, Health | 0 comments

About 25 cyclists will ride more than 500km from Glen Innes to Newcastle to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The Inverell Times reports It is the 20th anniversary of the Ride for Sick Kids which aims to raise about $200,000 each year, with the cycle event setting off from Glen Innes and riders travelling over 5 days to complete the trek.

McDonald’s licensee Chris Rodgers, who holds restaurants at Armidale, Glen Innes and Inverell, was part of the first charity ride from Inverell to Newcastle and has been running McDonald’s restaurants since 2001, and though he has indicated he will not take part in this year’s event, he is excited that more riders will be taking part than ever before.

Donations towards the cause can be made by purchasing a charity bike for $2 at any of the stores, with the riders departing Glen Innes from Tuesday 3rd September.
