Essential Energy crews will be carrying out routine maintenance and repairs across the Inverell district in the coming weeks to maintain a safe and reliable electricity network ahead of the festive season.
To safeguard crews while working on the electricity network, planned power outages affecting some customers will be necessary.
Key planned works include
- Lake Inverell Drive, Wednesday 3 December (weather permitting) – Crews will complete repairs from recent storm damage. A planned outage from 9am to 12.30pm will affect approximately 58 homes and businesses in the area.
- Mount Russell, Delungra, Old Armidale Road, Abington and Auburn Vale – Small pockets of customers across these rural areas may experience outages as crews complete general maintenance over the next few weeks.
Customers affected by the planned outages will be notified directly in advance. We encourage all customers to check with their electricity retailer to ensure contact details are up to date.
Essential Energy avoids scheduling outages from 19 December to minimise disruption during the Christmas period. However, urgent work may still occur if safety or reliability issues are identified.
Summer storms can cause unexpected power outages. Be prepared by charging devices, securing loose items, and never approaching fallen powerlines.
