Rains Disrupts Local Soccer but AFL Northwest Goes On

In sports in brief,

Not much soccer was played over the weekend with Inverell F.C receiving a forfeit from Hillvue Rovers as part of Round 11 of the Northern Premier Legue competition.

The homes side’s 3rd grade team also received a forfeit from Armidale Westside while both Women’s games have been postponed due to ground closures in Armidale

Meantime in AFL Northwest

The Tamworth derby, which was highlighted by former AFL stars Dyson Heppell and Josh Gibson, saw the Swans dominant the Kangaroos to win by 47 points while the Gunnedah Bulldogs had a comfortable 67-point win over the New England Nomads.

In the Women’s competition, the Gunnedah Poochettes scored a 13.11.89 to 3.2.20 win while the Tamworth Swans accounted for the Tamworth Kangaroos by 24 points.
