Today is R U OK? Day, a national day of action when Australians are reminded to start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.
R U OK? is a harm prevention charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives.
R U OK? contributes to suicide prevention efforts by encouraging people to invest more time in their personal relationships and building the capacity of informal support networks and have a conversation with friends, family and colleagues if they identify signs of distress or difficulty and connect them to appropriate support, long before they’re in crisis.
The charity organisation state the people in your world won’t always tell you if something’s troubling them, so it’s important that you make asking, ‘are you OK?’ a part of your everyday relationships.
