Public hearings into the splitting of the Hunter New England Health district set down for Narrabri and Tamworth this week have been postponed.
Member for Barwon Roy Butler, who instigated the Bill to split the health district, posted on his social media page that the hearings had been cancelled due to problems flying committee members to Narrabri and will now be rescheduled.
Mr Butler introduced the Health Services Amendment (Splitting of the Hunter New England Health District) Bill 2025, in February this year after the Health district reduced the Wee Waa hospital opening hours due to staffing issues.
He says the objective of his Bill is to dissolve the Hunter New England Local Health District and to constitute the Hunter Local Health District and the New England Northwest Local Health District.
