A Glen Innes firefighter has been deployed to Tasmania to support fellow firefighters as they battle ongoing bushfires.

NSW RFS, Glen Innes Rural Fire Brigade Deputy Captain Beau Proctor has been battling blazes over the past week, undertaking physically demanding tasks to help contain the fires.

During this period Mr Proctor has been involved in winching out of helicopters to access remote locations, walking fire edges, and using hand tools to combat fires directly.

It’s reported that fires started by dry lightning have been burning in Tasmania’s west for three weeks, creating a fire ground about 100,000 hectares in size.
