A man remains behind bars after he appeared in court yesterday charged after drugs and weapons were seized during a vehicle stop at Armidale on Tuesday morning.
A 51-year-old man, was pulled over on the New England Hwy at around 9am and was subjected to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive reading to methylamphetamine.
Extra resources from New England Police District were called and the vehicle searched with officers seizing a substance alleged to be methylamphetamine as well as two knives and five firearms from the vehicle.
He was taken to Armidale Police Station where an oral fluid sample was obtained and sent for further analysis.
Later that afternoon, police executed a search warrant at a home on Llangothlin Road at Guyra, where they seized another firearm with ammunition and drugs suspected to be methylamphetamine.
He was charged with possess prohibited drug, 2 counts of custody of knife in public place, and 8 counts of various firearm offences with the case set to be mentioned again on Monday.
